Submissions
Cool Titles publishes books, both fiction and non-fiction, on subjects ranging from entertainment, music and law, to mystery and romance. We are a small house with a narrowly focused list. We love finding new voices and publishing books we fall in love with. But, due to the volume of submissions, those authors not following the directions below will not be considered.
If you have written a non-fiction book proposal or have completed a fiction book in the above areas, you may submit to us as long as you follow the guidelines below. We do take both agented and unagented submissions, but know that we only publish a handful of books each year, so each book and proposal must be targeted and exceptional. Each submission should be well-edited and well-written. Additionally, our authors must have a large and viable social media platform in the subject area of their book, and be recognized experts in their field.
THE QUERY
Please query us about your non-fiction or fiction book by email to cindy@cooltitles.com. Your query should include one paragraph about your book, and one paragraph that talks about you and your credentials, your social media reach and/or ability to promote. We get a lot of email so it might take up to thirty days for us to respond to your query. Please be patient and do not keep emailing us to see if we got your query. We did. If we request to see your fiction manuscript or nonfiction book proposal, please follow the guidelines below.
Note that we only accept proposals and manuscripts via email to cindy@cooltitles.com and then only if you have been invited to do so. We could take ninety days or so to respond to your manuscript or proposal submission. Or, if we are on a roll with our email and review process, it might be much sooner.
NON-FICTION
We accept emailed non-fiction book proposals written about or by celebrities or the entertainment industry, and groundbreaking books in the legal field.
If, as a result of your query, you are asked to submit a non-fiction book proposal, please format your nonfiction proposal in the following manner:
1. Title page with contact information
2. Table of Contents
3. Overview
4. A one or two page history of your subject matter
5. Your bio and fact sheet
6. Several quotes about you from recognized experts in your field
7. A few photos of you that pertain to your book (72-100 dpi jpgs in the manuscript only please)
8. Four to six comparable titles and reasons why they are both similar to and different from your book (please research these well)
9. A marketing plan that demonstrates your ability to market your book
10. Chapter outlines
11. A sample chapter
Please DO NOT send us your entire nonfiction manuscript.
If you have questions about the writing or formatting your non-fiction proposal, we suggest you get a copy of Publish Your Nonfiction Book by Sharlene Martin and Anthony Flacco. It’s a great book that will answer all your questions and no, we did not publish it. Still, it’s a great book.
